What is the purpose of fasting in Islam?

In the religion of Islam, the month of Ramadan gives a lesson to mankind that people should refrain from eating and drinking during the day for a month. There are various lessons for Muslims in the month of Ramadan. The first thing is that in this month, Muslims are encouraged to obey the command of their Lord, that despite all the blessings that Muslims have, they should be used according to the command of Allah Almighty. Adopt as it is said in the Holy Qur'an,

O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you—as it was for those before you1—so perhaps you will become mindful ˹of Allah˺. (Quran chapter 2 verse 183)

The second thing is to create a feeling among Muslims through the month of Ramadan that they should be thankful for the blessings of Allah and remember those people who are suffering from hunger in this world and help them. go and feel their sufferings, so please help the poor people around you so that our Allah will be pleased with us.

Holy Quran commands us to help poor peoples,

To give charity publicly is good, but to give to the poor privately is better for you, and will absolve you of your sins. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do. (Quran chapter 2 verse 271)

˹Charity is˺ for the needy who are too engaged in the cause of Allah to move about in the land ˹for work˺. Those unfamiliar with their situation will think they are not in need ˹of charity˺ because they do not beg. You can recognize them by their appearance. They do not beg people persistently. Whatever you give in charity is certainly well known to Allah. (Quran chapter 2 verse 273)

They ask you ˹O Prophet in˺ what ˹way˺ they should donate. Say, “Whatever donations you give are for parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, and ˹needy˺ travelers. Whatever good you do is certainly well known to Allah.” (Quran chapter 2 verse 215)

Ramadan Al Kareem also has numerous physical benefits, it can also prevent various types of diseases, as obesity has increased dangerously in humans today, obesity is causing various types of physical diseases, but it is then It is possible that people should avoid eating too much while breaking the fast. In today's modern era, mankind is indulging in overeating and new diseases every day, although in the early days of Islam, our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his Sahaba  lived a very simple life and the world taught to They considered it to be only a temporary place, so this world is a temporary place. In this, the Lord of the Worlds should be truly worshiped and the needy should be helped so that no one in the world remains hungry and thirsty. May Allah bless us with Ramadan. May Allah grant us the opportunity to perform the correct acts of worship in this blessed month, Ameen (Allah knows better) May Allah reward you [with] goodness.
